Lessings "Ringparabel" aus NATHAN DER WEISE

Die "Ringparabel" aus Gotthold Ephraim Lessings 1779 erschienenem "dramatischen Gedicht" NATHAN DER WEISE (3. Akt, 7. Szene) gehört zum kulturellen Erbe der Menscheit. Gerade die Fassung jener Erzählung aus Boccaccios "Decamerone", die Lessing der Geschichte von den drei Ringen gegeben hat, übt einen verlockenden Zauber aus und kann als Wunsch- und Denk-Bild gerade in der gegenwärtigen Weltlage gute Dienste leisten.

Deshalb hat die Wolfenbütteler Lessing-Akademie den 275. Geburtstag Lessings zum Anlaß genommen, die "Ringparabel" in ihrer Originalfassung sowie in allen bisher erreichbaren Übersetzungen jeweils in Einzeldrucken zu veröffentlichen. Eine großzügige private Spende hat es uns ermöglicht, mit diesem Vorhaben einen Anfang zu machen. Wir hoffen, es in Zukunft erweitern zu können.
Die vorhandenen Einzeldrucke sind für 1,- Euro im Lessinghaus oder direkt bei der Lessing-Akademie erhältlich. Innerhalb des übrigen Deutschlands können sie in einem frankierten Rückumschlag (DIN A5) zzgl. 1,- Euro je Exemplar (in Briefmarken) bestellt werden, außerhalb Deutschlands gegen Rechnung.

Darüberhinaus haben wir in Zusammenarbeit mit der Firma ROCO-Druck in Wolfenbüttel die meisten uns erreichbaren Übersetzungen auf dieser Seite im PDF-Format zusammengestellt. Zur Ansicht dieser Dateien benötigen Sie den aktuellen Adobe-Acrobat-Reader.

Ebenso dankbar wären wir für Hinweise auf Fehler oder auf bessere Übersetzungen in einer schon berücksichtigten Sprache. Lessing's "Ring Parable" in NATHAN THE WISE

The "Ring Parable" from Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's "dramatic poem" NATHAN THE WISE published in 1779 (Act 3, Scene 7) forms part of the world's cultural heritage. Lessing's particular interpretation of the tale of the three rings from Boccaccio's "Decamerone" exerts a magical fascination and provides a productive model for aspirations and modes of thinking in the face of the present world climate.

To mark the occasion of the 275th anniversary of Lessing's birth, the Lessing Academy in Wolfenbüttel has decided to publish a series of single volumes with the original version of the "Ring Parable" and all known versions available in translation. Due to a generous private donation work has been started on this project and we hope to be able to expand its scope in the future.

The volumes published so far are available for the nominal sum of 1 Euro when purchased at the Lessing House, or they can be ordered directly from the Lessing Academy (2 Euros including postage and packing within Germany and Europe, 3 Euros outside Europe).

With the help of the firm ROCO-Druck Wolfenbüttel we have also put PDF-files of most of the translations collected so far here on our website. In order to view these documents you need a current version of Adobe-Acrobat-Reader.

If you know of such translations, we would be grateful for information about them. Perhaps you can even send us a clearly legible xerox copy of the verses 395-538. We would also be grateful for corrections or suggestions for improvements to the translations in the languages we have already provided. If you can name translators for further languages whom you consider capable of translating the Ring Parable, we should also be grateful. La "Parabole des trois Anneaux" ("Ringparabel") de Lessing

La "Ringparabel" (acte III, sc. 7), coeur du poème dramatique "Nathan le Sage" de Gotthold Ephraim Lessing fait partie de l'héritage culturel humain.

C'est cette version, que Lessing a donné à la troisìème nouvelle de la première partie du "Décaméron" de Bocacce (celle du juif Melchissedec) qui jusqu'aujourd'hui fait preuve d'un charme particulier et qui (justement dans l'actuelle situation mondiale) sert comme une sorte d'image de pensée. Pour cette raison et en vue du 275ième anniversaire de Lessing, la Lessing-Akademie Wolfenbüttel vient de publier la "Ringparabel" en version originale et en toutes traductions disponibles. Un don généreux nous a donné la possibilité de commencer un projet, que nous espérons pouvoir continuer en future.
